Near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), a number of new facilities have opened one after another, including the NFL stadium SoFi Stadium.
One of those venues is the dome theater COSM, which promotes an immersive experience — I went to see The Matrix there.
*The COSM screening version is titled “The Matrix in Shared Reality.”
Being wrapped in a gigantic hemispherical LED dome produces an immersion unlike a regular movie theater or a live venue — it’s an experience you should try if you’re in Los Angeles!
The immersion is incredible
COSM’s seating wraps around the hemispherical screen, giving you the sensation of images expanding from above and around you.
For a visually driven film like The Matrix, you feel even subtle lighting and spatial direction with your body — it’s truly immersive!
The sound is also three-dimensional, which amplifies tense scenes and explosions to levels far beyond a typical screen experience.
You can think of it as a smaller, more intimate version of the Sphere in Las Vegas.
COSM already operates in Dallas, Texas in the United States, and Los Angeles is its second location.
Located inside Inglewood’s Hollywood Park development, it’s a large immersive entertainment facility that uses a dome-shaped, high-resolution LED screen to offer experiential programs.
The brand is expanding to cities such as Atlanta, Detroit, and Cleveland and is gaining attention as an emerging immersive entertainment chain.
Stunning visuals × deep immersion
The hemispherical screen stretches from the floor of the main level all the way up to the ceiling.
If you sit in the center of the second tier, your entire field of view — up, down, left and right — becomes the screen.
And above all, the picture quality is superb
From movies to sports — versatile programming
When a movie is screened, the film is presented in the central “movie frame” while the area around that frame is used to extend the film’s world.
For example, in The Matrix it looks like this.
The design of the “movie frame” itself changes depending on the scene, and new visual elements are created specifically for this screen to express what happens outside the conventional movie borders.
As of September 2025, in addition to The Matrix, COSM is showing popular Las Vegas productions like Cirque du Soleil’s "O", the surfing documentary Big Wave: No Room for Error, and live NFL game-viewing events.
It feels as if the game is happening right in front of you.
Overall, quite luxurious
The Inglewood development was built on land with plenty of room, so each facility has generous space.
Inside COSM there are lounges on every level, and the third floor even has a roomy outdoor lounge.
The venue is also often themed to match screenings, so excitement starts well before the show begins.
You can order food and drinks from your seat, and surprisingly the food was quite good. Staff check on guests regularly and will even bring water (free) on request.
The parking structure next to COSM (Structure 3) offers validation for up to 4 hours when you use COSM.

Which seats are recommended?
I was unsure which seats to choose when I bought tickets.
It was my first time, so I had no idea what the screen would look like or how far seats were from it...
The screen runs from floor to ceiling and extends laterally up to the second tier.
For movie screenings, I recommend center seats on the 2nd or 3rd tiers — especially the last row of the 2nd tier and the front row of the 3rd tier.
We watched from the front-row center of the 3rd tier.
The photos and videos posted in this article and on West Coaster’s social media were taken from that seat.
If you’re watching non-movie content, seats closer to the front are also great.
If you experience sports on the first tier, it almost feels like you’re right on the field or court.
Hollywood Park — Inglewood’s new landmark
Inglewood’s new entertainment hub centers on the roughly 300-acre mixed-use development called Hollywood Park, anchored by SoFi Stadium. YouTube Theater and COSM are located within this development, and the NBA’s Intuit Dome sits immediately adjacent — so people commonly refer to the whole area as “Hollywood Park” (or simply Inglewood’s stadium & entertainment district).

SoFi Stadium:
A covered, large multipurpose stadium. It regularly hosts NFL games for the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers as well as major concerts. Seating capacity is roughly 70,000 (expandable to stadiums of about 100,000 for certain events). Expect heavy congestion around big events, so allow extra time.
Recently artists such as Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar & SZA, and The Weeknd have performed here. Historically, Crypto.com Arena (formerly Staples Center) and the Rose Bowl were staples for major LA concerts, but SoFi Stadium has become increasingly prominent for large-scale shows.

An indoor theater adjacent to SoFi Stadium for small to mid-sized concerts and events.

COSM:
An immersive entertainment venue centered on a large LED dome roughly 87 feet (about 26.6 m) in diameter. Its high-resolution (8K+ / ~12K horizontal) curved LED displays nearly 360 degrees of imagery for an audiovisual immersive experience.

Intuit Dome:
Located adjacent to the Hollywood Park cluster, the Intuit Dome is the new arena for the NBA’s LA Clippers and has become a notable indoor venue in recent years.

So, what did you think?
Seeing The Matrix like this made regular screens feel inadequate — it was that immersive.
