Hi \u2014 I\u2019m MAY.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), a number of new facilities have opened one after another, including the NFL stadium SoFi Stadium.
One of those venues is the dome theater COSM<\/a>, which promotes an immersive experience \u2014 I went to see The Matrix<\/em> there.
*The COSM screening version is titled \u201cThe Matrix in Shared Reality.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Being wrapped in a gigantic hemispherical LED dome produces an immersion unlike a regular movie theater or a live venue \u2014 it\u2019s an experience you should try if you\u2019re in Los Angeles!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The immersion is incredible<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

COSM\u2019s seating wraps around the hemispherical screen, giving you the sensation of images expanding from above and around you.
For a visually driven film like The Matrix<\/em>, you feel even subtle lighting and spatial direction with your body \u2014 it\u2019s truly immersive!
The sound is also three-dimensional, which amplifies tense scenes and explosions to levels far beyond a typical screen experience.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

You can think of it as a smaller, more intimate version of the Sphere in Las Vegas<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

COSM already operates in Dallas, Texas in the United States, and Los Angeles is its second location.
Located inside Inglewood\u2019s Hollywood Park development, it\u2019s a large immersive entertainment facility that uses a dome-shaped, high-resolution LED screen to offer experiential programs.
The brand is expanding to cities such as Atlanta, Detroit, and Cleveland and is gaining attention as an emerging immersive entertainment chain.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Stunning visuals \u00d7 deep immersion<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The hemispherical screen stretches from the floor of the main level all the way up to the ceiling.
If you sit in the center of the second tier, your entire field of view \u2014 up, down, left and right \u2014 becomes the screen.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

This is how the first floor looks<\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

And above all, the picture quality is superb<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

On the rooftop building fight scene, buildings extend beyond the movie frame, and firing effects cause visual distortion<\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

From movies to sports \u2014 versatile programming<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

When a movie is screened, the film is presented in the central \u201cmovie frame\u201d while the area around that frame is used to extend the film\u2019s world.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

For example, in The Matrix<\/em> it looks like this.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

When Neo emerges from the pod into the real world, the pod environment is shown outside the main movie frame<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The design of the \u201cmovie frame\u201d itself changes depending on the scene, and new visual elements are created specifically for this screen to express what happens outside the conventional movie borders.<\/p><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

As of September 2025, in addition to The Matrix<\/em>, COSM is showing popular Las Vegas productions like Cirque du Soleil\u2019s “O”<\/em>, the surfing documentary Big Wave: No Room for Error<\/em>, and live NFL game-viewing events.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
